My Halloween Nail Journey

Last spooky season, I got my first set of Halloween nails, and it was over from there—I knew I’d unlocked a whole new level of spooky queen energy.

So I treated myself to some salon designs with creepy-cute details. I loved how they looked but quickly realized they were way too pricey to keep up—especially if I wanted spooky designs.

After a couple expensive trips, I tried some clearance press-ons. But then of course, I realized it was hard to find spooky nails outside of spooky season.

That’s when I found Maniology—and everything changed. I finally discovered a way to wear Halloween nails year-round without relying on what’s available in stores each October.

Just because it’s not October doesn’t mean I stop rocking Halloween nails. Around here, spooky is a lifestyle—and my manicure is part of that year-round vibe.

Why Spooky Nails Became Part of My Identity

There’s something about having a Halloween manicure that just unlocks my spooky queen energy.

Even on a regular Tuesday, looking down at my spooky little fingertips reminds me: I’m living my best Halloween life… and okay, maybe I feel like the Morticia Addams of my own TV show.

Spooky nails are a small detail that make a big difference—and now they’re a regular part of my Self-Scare™ routine.

A Budget-Friendly Way to Keep the Spook Alive

Let’s talk money: a full Halloween manicure at the salon can easily cost $60 or more.

With my current press-on and stamping routine, I can create custom spooky nails at home for a fraction of that cost—and I get to switch things up as often as I want.

My Go-To: Maniology Almond Short Press-Ons for Practical Magic

I’m all about balance: spooky, but practical. Maniology’s short almond press-ons are long enough to show off Halloween designs but short enough that I can still work, type, and scroll without wanting to go full Winifred on the first person I see.

They’re the perfect base for all kinds of Halloween nail art.

Halloween Nail Art Made Easy with Stamping Plates

I’m not an artist—but with Halloween nail stamping plates, I don’t need to be.

Maniology makes it super easy to create spooky nail designs using stamps with bats, ghosts, spider webs, haunted houses, and more.

Instead of waiting for the right spooky press-ons to hit shelves (and hoping they’re the right length), I can make my own Halloween nails anytime I want—whether it’s Valloween, Summerween, or just a spooky Self-Scare™ weekend.

Design Before You Apply

I use a nail holder to paint and decorate each nail before putting them on. That way, I don’t have to worry about smudging while drying—and I can fully enjoy the creative process.

Stamping makes it fun, and I get to feel like a spooky little nail artist without the pressure of freehand art.

My Press-On Routine for Long-Lasting Spooky Nails

Here’s my tried-and-true method for getting 1–2 weeks of wear:

  • Paint acetone on the inside of the press-ons for better adhesion.
  • Add glue to both your natural nail and the press-on.
  • Let the glue get a little tacky before pressing.
  • Press down firmly and hold for 10–15 seconds.
  • Use a wet towel to clean up any extra glue.
  • Pro tip: Don’t rush it—taking your time during application makes a huge difference. This process normally only takes me about 10 minutes. It’s a major time-saver compared to waiting for polish to dry or going to the salon!

Other Press-On Nails I’ve Tried & Liked

Even though designing my own Halloween nails is my favorite form of Self-Scare™ right now, I still like to keep a few press-ons on hand for when I need a quick spooky fix.

Maniology’s pre-designed press-ons are my fave for that—spooky queen energy and ready to go.

Here are a few others I’ve tried and liked:

Glamnetic – Great quality with lots of variety of shapes and fun designs available.

Glamermaid – This might be the ultimate spooky press-on brand. Glamermaid is awesome because they have seasonally spooky designs, too!

Kiss Impress – If you’re looking for one night wear to glam up your look but don’t want to deal with the hassle of nails after, these are a great option!

Trying different brands helped me realize what works best for me—and what spooky details I need in a nail set. Length is usually the most challenging part. Sometimes there’s a set so gore-geous I have to wear it, even if it’s outside my comfort zone. And, sometimes I know I’ll need to type a lot for an upcoming script and choose practicality.

Final Thoughts: Spooky Nails Are a Lifestyle

Whether you’re just starting your press-on journey or looking for new ways to show off your Halloween spirit, spooky nails are such a fun way to express yourself.

Maniology made it easy for me to make Halloween nails part of my everyday life—and if you’re ready to try it too, click here to shop my Maniology picks. Don’t forget to use code MANDYSPOOKS for 10% off!
